Wadhams, William

William Wadhams, born in 1966, originates from Alert Bay, a small island next to Vancouver Island, Canada's Pacific Northwest Coast of British Columbia. He is a member of the Kwakwakaw 'wakw (Kwakiutl) First Nation and owns the Thunderbird and the Sisiutl (double-headed sea serpent) as his family crests.

He started carving at a very young age and comes from a large family of very well known artists and carvers. One of them is also well known Ray Wadhams, William's uncle which he credits for his teachings.

Through his artwork, he's trying to help preserve and bring awareness to his native culture. William's signature piece is the loon bowl which he carved and loved throughout his career.
