Unusual, gorgeou and high quality piece of Indigenous Art
by the First Nations artist Thomas Jones, a member of the Snuneymuxw Nation, originiating from Vancouver island, BC, Canada
Thomas used beautiful yellow cedar for the feather and red cedar for the base. The carving lines are deep and the stain truly accentuates the natural grain of the cedar. The feather can be taken out of the base. Thomas signed underneath the base which has the shape of a whale fin and the eagle's head carved deep into it. It's nicely polished so that the feather really has a nice shine to it. The back of the piece shows the spine of the feather. It really proofs masterful craftsmanship. Have a close look
