Large SALMON wall art carving by Nootka Master artist Brian Bob

Richly inlaid with Abalone, beautifull clean piece of yellow cedar, flat grain. Very deep carving, gorgeous flow, superb craftsmanship!! The body of the salmon is inlaid with Abalone's (Mother of pearl). This piece is so elegant. It's "washed/stained" in a nice light blue, still showing the natural grain of the wood - it's just so beautiful. Signed at the back by his carved "B" - carved in front, prepared for wall hanging. Just a superb example of art from the North American First Nations (Pacific Northwest)

Measurements: 35 1/2" x 8 1/2" x 1" (90 x 21.5 x 2.5 cm)

Meaning: The Salmon symbolizes prosperity, renewal and fertility. They are one of the most important and highest respected animals of all since they have been the primary food source from the beginning of time to the Northwest Coast First Nations.
