Thunderbird by master artist Brian Bob, a member of the Nootka (Nuu-chah-nulth First Nation)

richly inlaid, stained, hand carved in superb quality, thick piece of Sitkus Spruce, stained to accentuate the natural grain of the wood. The Thunderbied shows the whale symbol in the wings and the salmon in the body. The size is very impressive, the inlaid pieces of Abalone are a beautiful contrast to the brown of the stain. The carving lines are deep, clean and very detailed. This is a thick piece of wood - solid and powerful! Made and already prepared for wall hanging, hanger attached, signed at the back.

Measurements: 29" x 9" x 1 1/2"

Meaning: The Thunderbird is a mythical creature and only the most prestigious and powerful Chiefs are allowed to have the Thunderbird as a crest especially among the Kwagiulth, Nuu-Chah-Nulth and Coast Salish people.
