Silas Coon, clearly a master of this art just delivered this beautiful
Sisiutl - or Sea Serpent
wall art carving. He spent a long time working on it - carved it it such great detail, then stained the wood in a dark brown which accentuates the natural grain of the wood. Once that was finished, he started painting in his favourite copper color - and it's a great choice. It just makes the presence of it even more powerful and outstanding. Made and prepared for wall hanging, signature at the back.

The Sisiutl is one of the most powerful crests, and mythological creatures in the mythology of the Kwakwaka'wakw, Nuu-chah-nulth and various other Tribes and figures prominently in their art, dances and songs.
