Incredible piece of Indigenous Art from North America
Killer Whale with human riding on fin and Raven spirit in body
by our friend Detreck George (who sadly passed away this year - way to soon...we will miss him dearly).
Detreck, a member of the Coast Salish First Nations, used a clean and beautiful piece of yellow cedar. This piece is easy recognizable as one of Detreck's art pieces, so clean, detailed and vibrant. Traditional color black and red which truly makes the yellow of the wood outstanding. You can clearly see the knife marks at the back and throughout the piece even though it's sanded in the front - just a fantastic piece of Art in a great size.
Measurements: 24" x 10" x 1" (61 x 25.5 x 2.5 cm)
Meaning: The killer whale is a symbol for romance and harmony as Whales mate for life. The Whale is very family oriented and known to travel in large groups, never to be alone. They symbolize great luck and happiness, community and protection. They are a known to always be working together, take care of each other and to always help and protect each other.
