Here's another absolutely gorgeous SALMON with Eagle spirit by Indigenous artist Brian Bob, a member of the Nuuh-chah-nulth First Nations (Nootka) on Vancouver Island.
The carving is exceptional. The gorgeous wood (sitkus spruce) is stained in a soft blue-ish/green, accentuating the natural grain of the gorgeous, clean wood. The eyes are inlaid with Abalone. As always, Brian's carving lines are so clean and deep - the expression, amazing! It's made and prepared for wall hanging, carved in front, signed at the back, hanger already attached.
Measurement: 24" x 8" x 1/2"
Meaning: The Salmon symbolizes prosperity, renewal and fertility. They are one of the most important and highest respected animals of all since they have been the primary food source from the beginning of time to the Northwest Coast First Nations.
