GRISSLY BEAR by Silas Coon, specialized in Indigenous Miniature art carvings and this truly is another jewel!!

Have a close look, Silas spent just as much, if not even more time working on this piece like a large size mask. Just so much work and as always he pays so much attention to details.

The expression in this piece is mesmerizing - the fur adds and completes the rich expression in the Bear's face. The pieces of Abalone (mother of pearl) in the ears and in the eyes just adds to the beauty - brilliantly done. The painting and the colors chosen - masterful.

Measurements: 5 1/2" x 4" x 3"

Meaning: The Bear is a symbol for power, courage, physical strength and leadership. Warrior's e.g. are known to wear bear claw necklaces which meant protection. In Haida culture the Bear is referred to as "Elder Kinsman" and was treated like a high ranking guest.
