This brilliantly hand carved and hand painted mask proofs superb craftsmanship by the Kwakwakaw'wakw First Nation Artist Silas Coon

Silas is specialized in the carving of Tribal miniatures. He was part of an exhibition of small carvings on Vancouver Island, where his carvings were presented together with carvings by Luke Marston, Valerie Morgan, Kevin Cranmer, Shawn Karpes and just a handful more. A very elite group of artists who's Tribal miniatures in wood are so highly desired, admired and collected all over the world. 

These miniatures are highly sought after and are just as much, if not more work than a regular size mask. What a great expression! The colors are vibrant, the painting clean and the cedar bark adorning the mask just adds to the beautiful look of it.
