Beautiful, vibrant piece of art by Dale Scow, a member of the Kwakwaka'wakw First Nations, originating from Alert Bay.

Thunderbird 

Excellent piece, cedar, clean carving, vibrant painting. Everything you can ask for in a traditional piece of Indigenous Art. Carved in front, signed at the back, made and prepared for wall hanging, hanger already attached. 

Measurements: 15 1/2" x 8 1/2" x 1/2" 

Meaning: The Thunderbird symbolizes supernatural power and is believed to be the  dominating force behind all of natures doings. It's  a mythical creature and only the most prestigious and powerful Chiefs are allowed to have the Thunderbird as a crest especially among the Kwagiulth, Nuu-Chah-Nulth and Coast Salish people.
