SALMON MOON Mask
Solid cedar, excellent painting with strong expression, have a look at the Salmons surrounding the Moon's face, beautiful.
The Moon is adorned with the traditional cedar bark rope, the Rim is also carved with very deep and clean cuts, inlaid with copper, just a really stunning piece that makes every room, very impressive! The colors chosen are traditional. The painting is close to perfection while still showing lots of the beautiful cedar. The face is mounted on top, knife finished at the back - absolutely fantastic piece - quite heavy! It's prepared for wall hanging, signed at the back. Have a look, I'm providing a video as well.
Measurements: 24" round total, the face of the moon is 13" x 11"
Meaning: The Moon is associated with transformation since it controls the tides and illuminates the dark. It is seen as a guardian spirit while the Salmon symbolizes prosperity, renewal and fertility. They are one of the most important and highest respected animals of all since they have been the primary food source from the beginning of time to the Northwest Coast First Nations.
