Absolutely inncredible fully hand carved and hand painted Model Totem Pole by master artist John Henry Hunt from the Kwakwaka' wakw First Nations on Vancouver Island.
The details are so incredible, the artist spent many months working on this piece. Just have a look at all the cut-outs throughout the piece - not only the wings, but even the pole itself. I have never seen a carving in this superb quality.
This pole is really an important piece of Art. John Henry carved this pole to honor late Chief Tony Hunt Sr. and his late son Tony Hunt Jr.
The left wing is representing Tony Hunt Jr., the RAVEN, coming out of the ovoid is representing his son Robert. The MOON in the beak of the Raven is representing his other son Brian, while the GHOST respresents his brother Steven.
The right wing is representing Chief Tony Hunt Sr., the white RAVEN, with the FROG in the middle representing Tony's mother, it's taken her spirit to the next Chief's world. The sun in it's beak does represent John Henry's Grandpa Henry.
The pole itself is showing the OWL on top of the WOLF, giving 10x chief copper to daughter Debbie.
Measurements: 44" wingspan, 21" high, the pole itself is 5 1/2" x 4", the base is 11" x 11"
