What a masterpiece - so delightful and exquisite, elegant, classy and just exceptionally high quality
Loon Bowl
by master artist Tom LaFortune from the Tsawout First Nations, origination from the southern parts of Vancouver Island, BC.
Tom used Alder wood for this piece. Please have a close look underneath the bowl, it's fully carved out by hand - you can clearly see the knife marks - it truly is a marvelous piece of Art. This graceful expression was very difficult to achieve, only an artist with many years of experience and definitely lots of love for this art can master this. The painting is also close to perfection, traditional colors black and red, showing off the gorgeous clear yellow of the wood. This bowl makes a great centerpiece, it's just so impressive - there isn't another one like it out there!!!
Measurements: 24" long, 13 1/2" wide, 19 1/2" high to top of loons head. The bowl's rim is 8 1/2" high
Meaning: The Loon symbolizes serenity and tranquility. They teach us to listen to and learn from our dreams, because if you believe in them, the might come true and your hopes and wishes will be fulfilled.
