Black Bear

cedar wall art carving. Shane always pays so much attention to details, see the deep carving on the bear's arm, it just adds to the beautiful expression, The bear is painted black with accents of green and red. Most of the carving lines are not painted which adds to the form and outline of the bear. Made and prepared for wall hanging, signed at the back, hanger attached.

Measurements: 16 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 1/2" (42 cm x 14 cm x 1.5 cm)

Meaning: The Bear is a symbol for power, courage, physical strength and leadership. Warrior's e.g. are known to wear bear claw necklaces which meant protection. In Haida culture the Bear is referred to as "Elder Kinsman" and was treated like a high ranking guest.
