Absolutely incredible piece of Art from a well known and just excellent artist Jonathan Jacobson from the Kwakiulth First Nation

Articulated RAVEN

Massive piece, prepared for ceiling hanging, beautiful cedar, inlaid, LOTS of cedar bark, vibrant colors, just VERY impressive!! The carving is masterfully done, large inlays of Abalone (Mother of pearl), the painting is close to perfection, very clean lines... and so much cedar bark. Signed on the inside. Very powerful clapping sound.

Measurements: total incl. cedar bark: 32" x 31" x 7", wooden raven itself: 25" x 10" x 6"

Meaning: The Raven is known to be the transformer, trickster and creator. In the Kwakwaka'wakw culture the Raven is known as the messenger of the sky and famous for being a somewhat mischievous glutton. He's always out to please himself and to have a good time. He's very adventurous.

Legend: Known in legends as the one who released the sun, moon, and stars; discovered man in a clamshell; brought the salmon and the water; and taught man how to fish and hunt.
