So vibrant, such a great design
Lidded steam bent wooden Box, with detailed, hand carved Hummingbird DESIGN on each side, by Kwakiulth First Nation artist Sarah Daniels (nee Robertson) from Kingcome Inlet, BC.
As always in Sarah's art, clean and detailed cuts. The design of the Hummingbird, the Bird of Love, is simply beautiful, lid and base is left natural. Signed underneath the base. Sarah always leaves some pencil marks - it just shows and proofs that it's fully hand crafted, carved and painted. The marks can be easy removed with a pencil eraser, but I'll leave that up to you. A really delightful piece to add to any native art collection.
Measurements: 7 1/4" 7 1/4" x 5" measured on lid, inner box opening is 4 1/2" x 4 1/2"
Meaning: The Hummingbird teaches you to appreciate and love the miracle of living and to help you focus on the positivity in your life. They represent friendship, playfulness and are a symbol of good luck. They are seen as messengers of peace, healing body and soul and guide you through life's challenges. Hummingbirds are very independent and seem to have an unlimited energy supply. They symbolize wonder, love and beauty.
