Gorgeous piece
EAGLE Dance RATTLE
excellent carving and painting all around on each side. These dance rattles are very important and present at any potlatch ceremony. The sound is strong (I'm enclosing a video...) . Signed underneath the base by SARAH ROBERTSON, a very well known Master artist from the Kwagiulth First Nation. Sarah is a very kind and gentle soul and I always very much enjoy meeting with her and her lovely large family.
Measurements: the Rattle itself is 13" x 4" x 4", 11" high in base, base is 9 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Meaning: The Eagle symbolizes grace, power and great intellect. It is a sacred and noble creature representing power and prestige to the First Nations people of the Northwest Coast. It symbolizes wisdom and has a special and direct connection to the creator. Eagles mate for life and are therefore also seen as a symbol of lasting love and dedication
