Articulated Eagle Model Mask by Alfred Robertson

This is a hand carved and hand painted Model Eagle Mask, articulated and rich and beautiful in expression!

Clean and deep cuts, beautifully painted. The Beak opens and closes when pulled on the attached lining/string. Carved to perfection by Alfred Robertson, adorned with lots of traditional cedar bark which is so much work to collect and treat and cut before it can be used. Just think about the work and many hours the artist put into this piece.

Measurements: total height incl. cedar bark: 20", eagle head itself is 14" x 5 1/2"

Meaning: The Eagle symbolizes grace, power and great intellect. It is a sacred and noble creature representing power and prestige to the First Nations people of the Northwest Coast. It symbolizes wisdom and has a special and direct connection to the creator. Eagles mate for life and are therefore also seen as a symbol of lasting love and dedication. It is told that the Eagle end their own life in despair when the mate is lost. Eagle feathers are used in the most important ceremonies, a display of respect, courage, Chieftainship and wisdom. The Eagle is the ruler of sky.

Full disclosure: Minor restoration: Please have a close look at the front of the beak, I'm providing close-ups. It's difficult to see but it has a minor line around the beak due to restoration done by the artist while carving it before painting.
