Lurking WOLF, wall art carving by master artist Brian Bob from the Nootka First Nation
This piece truly is beautiful, inlaid with abalone (mother of pearl). Brian's design of the wolf is really great, so detailed and rich in expression. He pays so much attention to details and the cuts are so deep and clean, it clearly shows his many many years of experience and his talent for this art. Just a gorgeous piece of Indigenous Art from the Pacific Northwest.
The images are nice, but they still don't do it justice. Brian stained in a "washed" gray", still showing the stain of the wood. He's used nice clean Sitka Spruce for this piece. Carved in front, signed at the back, made and prepared for wall hanging.
Measurements: 24" x 7" x 1" (61.5 x 18 x 2.5 cm)
Meaning: The Wolf represents loyalty, strong family ties, good communication, education, understanding and intelligence. Of all land animals, the Wolf has the strongest supernatural powers and is the most accomplished hunter. The Wolf is a very social and communicative creature; he uses body movement, touch and sound.
