This piece of art is a masterpiece, it makes every room, just very unique and absolutely marvelous. The carving is incredibly deep and the painting so powerful. Different shades of blue, combined with the black just adds to the outstanding expression.
I'm providing close ups so you can clearly see all the work John Henry put into it. The mask is fully hand carved, hand painted, designed and signed by the artist. Made from beautiful cedar wood, decorated with the traditional cedar bark. John Henry also added black cedar rope and adorned the mask all the way around. As finish, he added some painted feathers - gorgeous.
Measurements: 31" wide, 14" high, 8" deep
Meaning: The Raven is known to be the transformer, trickster and creator. In the Kwakwaka'wakw culture the Raven is known as the messenger of the sky and famous for being a somewhat mischievous glutton. He's always out to please himself and to have a good time. He's very adventurous. He also taught man how to fish and hunt and brought the salmon and the water.
