Eagle and little Spirit Mask - by Bear (Doug) Horne, a member of the Coast Salish (Tsawout) First Nation and son of master carver Doug LaFortune

"....our Ancestors are watching over us through the eyes of the Eagle - when flying high up in the air, they are looking down, protecting and guiding..... " (Bear)

The face of the eagle is hand carved out of red cedar, beautiful wood. The little SPIRIT is hand carved out of yellow cedar. Elegant, and yet powerful painting in white, wonderful expression, superb carving, traditional cedar bark, lots of attention to details, highest quality craftsmanship - a really fantastic example of true Indigenous Art! Have a close look at the little spirit in the Eagle's eye, I just think it's so cute... and the little hand... incredible.... enjoy the pictures....

Meaning of the eagle: Eagles mate for life and are therefore also seen as a symbol of lasting love and dedication. It is told that the Eagle end their own life in despair when the mate is lost. Eagle feathers are used in the most important ceremonies, a display of respect, courage, Chieftainship and wisdom.
