Hamatsa Birds - Set of 3 (wall art carvings) - Huk-Huk, Crooked Beak and Raven
Beautiful pine, hand carved, adorned with the traditional cedar bark and beautifully painted in vibrant and traditional colors black and red, still showing the beautiful grain of the wood. Made, signed and prepared for wall hanging. Just a fabulous collection of Indigenous Art that just arrived in our native art gallery. Difficult to find these as a set in same sizes.... they look really impressive together.
Measurements: Huk-Huk: 19" x 13" x 1 1/2", Crooked Beak: 18" x 13" x 1 1/2", Raven: 20" x 13" x 1 1/2"
Meaning: The Huk-Huk, Raven and Crooked Beak are all birds of the mythological Hamatsa (Cannibal dance). There are three of them: One is the Crooked Beak (Galokwudzuwis), a monsterous human eating bird that produces great fear. Then there is the Man-eating RAVEN (Baxbaxwalanuksiwe) who eats his victim's eyes - followed by The HUK-HUK (Huxwhukw) who uses it's long beak to open and eat it's victim.
Note: USD amounts estimated based on Bank of Canada average exchange rate, updated weekly, Invoice in CAD, overseas shipping costs $125 CAD added at check-out
