Beautiful Sun Mask by Hereditary Chief David Mungo Knox from the Kwakiulth First Nations on Vancouver Island, BC.
This piece is really beautiful, guaranteed authentic, hand carved, signed, designed and hand painted by Chief David. He also decorated each ray and the sun's face with the traditional cedar bark. Vibrant colors, beautiful painting giving it a soft and peaceful expression. David also added copper to each ray. This is a large and very impressive piece of true Indigenous art. Sanded and oiled, old red cedar.
The rays will be detached for safe shipping, easy to re-assemble, rays are numbered at the back. The mask is signed at the back.
Measurements: approx. 43" diameter, face itself is 15 1/2" x 15 1/2", 7" deep - Very LARGE piece
