Black Bear, wooden wall art carving by master artist Brian Bob from the Nootka Nation

This piece truly is beautiful, inlaid with abalone (mother of pearl). Brian's design of the bear is really great, he pays so much attention to details and the cuts are so deep and clean, it clearly shows his many many years of experience and his talent for this art. Just a gorgeous piece of Indigenous Art from the Pacific Northwest.

The images are nice, but they still don't do it justice. Brian stained in a "washed" black", still showing the stain of the wood. He's used nice clean Sitka Spruce for this piece. Carved in front, signed at the back, made and prepared for wall hanging.

Measurements: 24" x 7 1/2" x 1" 

Meaning: The Bear is a symbol for power, courage, physical strength and leadership. Warrior's e.g. are known to wear bear claw necklaces which meant protection. In Haida culture the Bear is referred to as "Elder Kinsman" and was treated like a high ranking guest.
