This is such an elegant and nice piece of Indigenous art from the North native American First Nations
HERON, on SALMON base by artist Charles George St., a member of the Heiltsuk First Nations from Bella Bella.
Beautiful expression - the title of the piece is so appropriate: Graceful Patience
Showing the Heron, waiting to catch a fish. The details are really nice, the heron is carved and painted on both sides, in the heron's body you can see the raven and the whale symbol, even the base which is depicting the salmon is so detailed. Both pieces, the heron and the salmon are fully hand carved and hand painted. Signed underneath the base.
Measurements: 24" tall, 5 1/2" wide, 1" deep, the salmon base is 12" x 6 1/2"
Meaning: In the native culture of the Pacific Northwest Coast First Nations, the Heron is known to be a “lucky charm” for successful fishing. He is a symbol of grace, elegance, patience and good luck. At the same time Heron’s are known to be loner and in some tribes are associated with weakness for flattery and vanity
Note: USD amounts estimated based on Bank of Canada average exchange rate, updated weekly, Invoice in CAD, overseas shipping costs ($95 CAD) added at check-out.
