Gorgeous piece
Hummingbird Dance RATTLE
excellent carving and painting all around on each side. These dance rattles are very important and present at any potlatch ceremony. The sound is strong. Signed underneath the base by Sarah Daniels (nee Robertson) a very well known native artist from the Kwagiulth First Nation. Sarah is a very kind and gentle soul and I always very much enjoy meeting with her and her lovely large family. Highly talented, paying a lot of attention to details and tradition.
Measurements: the Rattle itself is 13" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/2", base is 5" x 3 1/2"
Meaning: The Hummingbird teaches you to appreciate and love the miracle of living and to help you focus on the positivity in your life. They represent friendship, playfulness and are a symbol of good luck. They are seen as messengers of peace, heal body and soul and guide you through life's challenges. Hummingbirds are very independent and seem to have an unlimited energy supply. They symbolize wonder, love and beauty.
