Here's another absolutely gorgeous SALMON, by Nootka Indigenous artist Brian Bob from Nanoose Bay.
The carving is exceptional. The gorgeous wood (sitka spruce) is stained with a vibrant blue stain, accentuating the natural grain of the gorgeous, clean wood. The eyes of the salmon and the tail are inlaid with Abalone. As always, Brian's carving lines are so clean and deep - close to perfection and you can clearly see his many years of experience in this craft as well as his talent. The expression, amazing! It's made and prepared for wall hanging, carved in front, signed at the back, hanger already attached.
Measurement: 25" x 8" x 1"
Meaning: The Salmon symbolizes prosperity, renewal and fertility. They are one of the most important and highest respected animals of all since they have been the primary food source from the beginning of time to the Northwest Coast First Nations.
