Brian added 8 abalone inlays, the expression of this piece is truly stunning. You can clearly see how much this piece meant to Brian, how much he enjoyed carving it. He used a big, beautiful piece of wood, lots of cut outs, very detailed piece, so much work went into it.
In the artist’s words: “One of mom’s stories as I asked her why people felt Owl was a messenger of bad. Her reply was to pray for hunting be good for owl and mice be plentiful so that owl would be happy and protect the spirit”
