Vibrant, such a great design
Lidded BENTWOOD Box, steam bent, hand carved with detailed EAGLE DESIGN on each side, by Kwakiulth First Nation artist Sarah Robertson from Kingcome Inlet, BC.
As always in Sarah's art, deep cuts. The design is detailed and truly beautiful, lid and base is left natural. Powerful painting and expression!!! Signed underneath the base. Sarah always leaves the pencil marks on the inside of the box and the lid - it just shows and proofs that it's fully hand crafted, carved and painted. It will be easy to erase those, but I will leave that up to you. A really delightful piece to add to any native art collection.
Measurements: 6" high, lid is 7 1/2" x 7 1/2"
Meaning: Eagles mate for life and are therefore also seen as a symbol of lasting love and dedication. It is told that the Eagle end their own life in despair when the mate is lost. Eagle feathers are used in the most important ceremonies, a display of respect, courage, Chieftainship and wisdom. The Eagle is the ruler of sky.
