Have a look at this Beauty! Highest Quality!! Solid and very old growth, beautiful piece of red cedar, please have a close look at the grain, masterfully carved out, not mounted on top, one solid piece of wood. Rupert carved it down very thin, fantastic craftsmanship.
Stained and painted. started with a solid 6” thick piece of old growth cedar and slowly and carefully carved the moon out of it.
The painting is vibrant and in traditional colors black and red, the Dog fish head and wolf on the left – body design on the lower side, the body of the fish going around the chin of the moon, in the belly you can see a warrior fishing and the tail is shown on the upper right side of the rim and forehead.
In the artist words: “Warrior who provided for his people who were too sick to feed themselves, he brought food and life back to the people” - Rupert’s carved initials and fully handwritten signature at the back. Also showing a picture with Rupert holding his moon.
He said he used 4 coats of Danish oil and 4 (!) coats of bees wax finish for the polish. The moon is prepared for wall hanging.
