Shaman Mask by Quinn James (Quineesh)
Quinn is a member of the Kwakwaka'wakw First Nations, son of well known artist Simon D. James, originating from the Comox Valley on British Columbia's Pacific Northwest Coast. He used alder for this mask and decorated it with lots of the traditional cedar bark. The painting is very clean, and very rich, Quinn clearly has an eye for design, always keeping the history of his peoples in mind. He is mixing his own colors and they just work. The expression of this Shaman is very strong. The more you look at it, the more it "speaks" to you. The carving is truly marvelous, it shows Quinn's great talent for this art.
Measurements: total height 14", mask itself is 10" x 7" x 4"
Meeting Quinn just confirmed that he is a very friendly and kind soul, it's truly a pleasure to listen to the stories and to understand all the love and work he put's into his artwork. His carreer is just starting and we can't wait to see more.
