What an incredible piece of true Indigenous art
Truly remarkable 46" Eagle Transformation mask, guaranteed authentic, cedar, signed by Sammy Dawson, a member of the Kwakiutl Nation.
Please have a close look at the pictures - I think they speak for themselves. The Eagle's expression is extremely powerful, the carving is superb quality, very clean painting lines and deep cuts. Fully hand carved, hand painted, decorated with the traditional cedar bark, lots of it! Did you see the little baby eagle head on the top?
The mask is prepared with lining to open and close the beak of the eagle. Sammy used cedar, cedar bark and feather as decoration (painted turkey feathers will replace the current feather shown, see image), wooden handles on the lining which opens the beak. Signed at the back and made and prepared for wall hanging. Just a very special and impressive piece - again, very hard to find Transformation masks this size and quality on the market these days - don't miss out
Measurements: 46" wide open, Height: 33" (incl. cedar bark), Eagle head: 23" deep, 9" wide, portrait mask 16" tall, 8" wide, not counting the little eagle head on top. The mask is 15-20 years old.
