Human transforming into Thunderbird - incredibly detailed, hand carved wooden Mask
So much work went into this piece. Have a close look please. Hand carved, designed, hand painted, decorated with lots of cedar bark and Abalone - look at the eyes, the Abalone pieces are not glued on top, they are inlaid. This piece is signed by Randy Stiglitz - a world wide well known and highly sought after artist from the Pacific Northwest Coast of BC and a member of the Coast Salish First Nations. It's also signed by Randy's partner Janice Morin (Cree Nation). Janice herself is a highly respected artist and together with Randy, they are just a fantastic team.
It's just a fabulous example of true Indigenous art, the little human face is decorated with human hair, the little hands holding onto Thunderbird, marvelous design. The carving quality is outstanding. The human and the hands are not glued but carved out of one piece of wood, fabulous craftsmanship. As is the expression - just very powerful!
Measurements: 13" x 9" x 6"
Meaning: The Thunderbird symbolizes supernatural power and is believed to be the dominating force behind all of nature’s doings.
