3 1/2" x 2 1/2" LARGE Sterling Silver, Hamatsa Raven Bird Dancer (Bakbakwasnooksiwae) - absolutely superb craftsmanship!
This is clearly a piece to impress!!!! Outstanding quality. The Hamatsa is wearing the "cedar dress" flowing down from it's head. Arms and legs are shown, clearly dancing. The carving lines are exeptionally clean and excecuted to perfection.
Weight: 40 gr., slightly domed (chain is not included)
Legend: Bakbakwasnooksiwae (Hamtsa Raven) is a long beaked bird, chief cannibal spirit who's controlling the great household in the sky. The Hamatsa Raven is portrayed in dances of the Hamatsa society in the important Kwakiult winter ceremonies.
