Bukwus (Wild Man of the Woods) Mask
Meaning: the Bukwus/Pukmis is a supernatural ghost like figure, also known as the Wild Man of the Woods or the Man of the Sea is associated with the spirits of those who have drowned.
Very powerful expression, adorned with horsehair which just adds to the "wild" image of the Bukwus. The choice of color is unusual and simply excellent! This mask is easy recognizable as one of Don's carvings, showing the style that he learned from his friend and teacher Beau Dick. This piece is dated 1989
Measurements: 12" x 8" x 6" (ca. 31 x 20 x 15 cm)
