20" Round Carving of a Hummingbird with Flower by Donavon Gates

This is a true masterpiece! There are not many artists of his talent around anymore! Let the pictures speak for themselves. This is high quality craftsmanship. The details are incredible, the "rounding" of the piece is exceptional with extremely deep cuts. This is highest quality craftsmanship - the "rounding/doming" of the piece is exceptional - and all fully hand made - no machines have been used.

Donovan doesn't just carve a piece of wood, he tells us a story. This carving shows a Hummingbird with Flower. It is richly inlaid with abalone, beautifully stained to accentuate the natural grain of the wood, polished. This time Donavon used a lighter stain (honey colour) which brings out the deep cuts and rounding. It also accentuates the abalone and it shows clearly the very detailed carving and Donavon's love for his art.
