Traditional Hawk Sun Mask
Note: Prices are CAD (if you prefer or Euro, please contace me)
Very interesting piece of traditional Indigenous Art from the Kwagiulth First Nation peoples
The artist did not use any nails on this piece, the rays are attached with leather bands (which might need some adjusting once in a while, they can loosen a bit)
HAWK SUN MASK
old, red cedar wood, powerful traditional colors, the carving is superb! This is an older piece but in excellent condition. Have a look at the back of the piece to see how unusual it is. It's not signed which means it originally wasn't made for the market but probably for use in ceremony. I would think it was worn as a frontlet.
Measurements: 16" x 16", the face itself is 7 1/2" x 7"
