Another fabulous piece by Sarah Robertson

Kwakiulth First Nation, KILLER WHALE FIN on Base

have a look at the deep cuts on this piece - masterfully executed by Sarah - clearly showing her love for this Art and the traditional way of carving. She used traditional colors and mounted the Fin onto a wooden base. Stained and polished, signed underneath, Sarah is using pine for her carvings. the face on the fin shows the King of the undersea world. A few "drops" in the paint on one side - well, it's not machine made....

Measurements: 17" tall, base is 12" x 9", fin is 1" thick

Meaning: The killer whale is a symbol for romance and harmony as Whales mate for life. The Whale is very family oriented and known to travel in large groups, never to be alone. They symbolize great luck and happiness, community and protection. They are a known to always be working together, take care of each other and to always help and protect each other.
