What a beautiful and impressive piece!
by master artist Jonathan Jacobson, a member of the Kwakwakaw' wakw First Nation. A very well known and well liked and highly sought after artist.
red cedar, very large piece, beautifully hand painted in great detail, showing the Eagle on each side. It's signed on the bottom of the canoe, comes with little wooden paddles. It stands on a wooden base but can be taken off and looks fabulous even without the base! Jonathan used mainly tradiditonal colors - it's just a very powerful piece. The painting/carving on the base is depicting the water - just excellent craftsmanship - and these are hard to find - you don't see these canoes often - just so much work to hand carve and hollow the solid piece of wood.
Measurements: 29"/2 1/2 ft. long, 6" wide, approx. 6" high - total height in stand is 9" (74 x 15 x 15, high when on stand: 23 cm)
