What a find!!!
Original Prayer Pipe from the Coast Salish First Nation
hand carved by the artist Hubert (Bear) Edwards, originating from the Penelakut Island (former Kuper Island). This is an older piece - AND it has clearly been used!!! Have a look at the carving. It's decorated with pieces of abalone, showing the Eagle, the Raven, the Owl and the sea serpent. You really don't find these often, especially not in this quality. Since it's older, it does show signs of handling, but it's absolutely gorgeous. Just a very special piece - one of those pieces that complete's any serious native art collection. It's signed with carved initials by Hubert at the back of the pipe. Not much is known about Hubert but the Edward's family is very well known and their pieces of art are traditional and highly sought after.
