Gorgeous large Black Bear

wall art carving by the Squamish First Nation artist Shane Flood Baker. Easy regonizable as one of his pieces of art. This Bear is knife finished, have a close look at the pictures please - it's not sanded - isn't that beautiful? It shows each single cut and with that, shows how much work Shane put into it. His carving is so perfect, it doesn't need sanding. Very detailed, very correct and clean lines, the painting is amazing, he pays so much attention to details. Hes used solid beautiful yellow cedar for this piece, Signed at the back, not painted at the back, it's prepared for wall hanging, hanger already attached.

Measurements: 24" x 8" x 1" (61 x 20 x 2.5 cm)

Meaning: The Bear is a symbol for power, courage, physical strength and leadership. Warrior's e.g. are known to wear bear claw necklaces which meant protection. In Haida culture the Bear is referred to as "Elder Kinsman" and was treated like a high ranking guest.
