What an incredible piece of Indigenous Art - have a real close look at the details and the quality of this piece
by George Manson from the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation, T-lay-qwat
43" tall wall art carving showing ALL of the following characters, starting from top to bottom:
THUNDERBIRD with WHALE head spirit and lightning SNAKE, BEAR with SALMON spirit and RAVEN with MOON spirit
Solid piece of yellow cedar, stained in a washed gray, still showing the natural grain of the wood. The carving lines are so deep. SO much attention to details. This is the kind of quality you want to be looking for if you are a serious art collector. It's not new and shows some minor signs of gentle handling.
Measurements: 43" tall, 6" wide, 1" thick
The piece is signed at the back, also hand written "Tuff-city" which is the nick-name for Tofino, used by the members of the First Nations on Vancouver Island.
