John, Norman

John, Norman

Norman John was born in 1929 in Mowachaht, Nuu-chah-nulth Territory (Zebulos, Nootka, Estevan Point), on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Norman learned to carve at the age of nine from his father, Jimmy John, who was a gifted carver. One of his finest work, the "Peaceful Boundaries" Totem, stands on Vancouver Island, in Duncan's Centennial Park. He carved this totem in 1988. Norman is now deceased.
