Jones, Thomas

Jones, Thomas

Thomas Jones was selected as one of four carvers, representing three First Nations areas, to create two 10-metre totem poles for the entrance of Vancouver Island University's Gathering Place (Shq'aphut). He will be working on the poles together with George Hunt Jr. (Kwakwaka'wakw), Qwaya Sam (Ahousaht) and Noel Brown (Snuneymuxw).

Thomas is a very talented carver who truly loves his Art. He credits Tony Hunt Sr. for his artistic quality. He spent much time carving with Tony as he is married into the Hunt family. Tom is just a very kind and friendly human being, always a real pleasure to meet and to chat with him.

The Snuneymuxw are a vibrant First Nation of the Coast Salish People, located in the centre of Coast Salish territory on the eastern coast of Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and the Fraser River in the Canadian province of British Columbia.
