Joseph, Louie
Louie Joseph belongs to the Ahousaht first nation which is a small subgroup of the Nuu-chah-nulth nation. Louie grew up in Quatsino, which is a small hamlet located on Quatsino Sound in Northern Vancouver Island, an hour away from Port Hardy. He has bee carving since his early teens and became a well known and highly respected artist. Some of his work is displayed in various museums in British Columbia, and of course, in many private collections. In addition to his work as an artist, Louie was also a well respected elder in his community
