Alexi Underwood is a member of the Coast Salish First Nation, born 1962. He also is of Campbell River Kwagiulth (Kwakwaka’wakw) descent. He credits his grandfather Laquse Hamis James for being his teacher and mentor as well as his mother Marie Moody. Alexi is very passionate about his carvings and is very proud to work and present the traditional characteristics of his family's artwork. His pieces are known to be very rich in expression and are already highly sought after by private collectors around the world.
