Stunningly beautiful Salish Weave Jewelry, reminiscent of traditional Salish cedar bark weavings

Sterling Silver Earrings, Thunderbird design by Indigenous artist Jody Sparrow, a member of the Coast Salish (Musqueam/Squamish) Nation.

Jody is a highly talented and renowned jewelry and wood artist who developed his very own style, unique, contemporary, abstract, yet always keeping tradition and history in mind - and for certain, very elegant. Superb craftsmanship!!

"Weaving us together is an expression, that tells the story of people feeling connected to the land, the community and each other, yet allowes them to be unique as in no pieces of jewelry are the same" - Jody Sparrow, 2023

Each of his designs have a special meaning and title and Jody clearly spends a lot of hours on design and he pays so much attention to details. Already his jewelry is easy recognizable as his own and we are honored and excited to present him in our Gallery. Jody is passionate about this art and to pass on his knowledge is very important to him, so he is currently teaching 3 apprentices as well as his daughters and granddaughter.

Meaning: The Thunderbird symbolizes supernatural power and is believed to be the dominating force behind all of nature’s doings. It’s a mythical creature and only the most prestigious and powerful Chiefs are allowed to have the Thunderbird as a crest especially among the Kwagiulth, Nuu-Chah-Nulth and Coast Salish people.
