YOUNG NOBLE WOMAN, Tlingit, from the Eagle clan by Janice Morin

Very bright, nice grain within the wood - I'm not sure what kind of wood is it - it's very interesting, probably aged alder and it's so beautiful, a few knots that just add to the natural expression. The painting is extraordinary - so powerful. The face shows the eagle on the forehead since it depicts the noble woman from the eagle clan. The expression is soft and beautiful, loving but at the same time powerful. You can clearly see the female touch in this piece of art - done by a master artist with so many years of experience in carving. Janice always pays so much attention to details - the large black horse hair is surrounding and adding to the face as well as the traditional cedar bark rope. Superb!
