Another gorgeous piece by a very talented artist
SALMON and EAGLE paddle by Neil Baker from the Squamish Nation.
Very detailed and clean carving lines. Have a look at this beautiful piece of red cedar. Great craftsmanship, traditional colors, very clean painting. Neil just puts tremendous effort and work into every piece of his art. Carved on one side, signed at the back. True Indigenous art, hand carved and authentic, coming direct from the artist.
Measurements: 38" long, 1" thick, 5 1/2" wide
Meaning: The Salmon symbolizes prosperity, renewal and fertility. They are one of the most important and highest respected animals of all since they have been the primary food source from the beginning of time to the Northwest Coast First Nations. Eagles mate for life and are therefore also seen as a symbol of lasting love and dedication. It is told that the Eagle end their own life in despair when the mate is lost. Eagle feathers are used in the most important ceremonies, a display of respect, courage, Chieftainship and wisdom.
