Weeping Volcano Woman Miniature mask PENDANT - so powerful and superb

hand carved, hand painted by Silas Coon, a member of the Kwakiulth First Nations from Kingcome Inlet, BC. You can clearly see Beau Dick's influence in this piece. Silas learned from the best and carved this piece to honor and to remember his mentor. Beau also carved a Volcano Mask and if you find it and have a look at it, you'll know what I mean.

This little gem does show the frogs as eyes and a raven in it's mouth. On each side the ears are depicted as wild men. Truly fabulous, so very detailed and decorated with cedar/wood which is partly painted in red. Silas spent so much time and puts so much work into each piece, His art is so highly collectable since it's so rare... they are considered an investment, there just aren't (m)any artists carving these, especially not in this quality. Have close look at the details please.

Meaning: The volcano woman is depicting the displacement of the survivors of the great volcanic eruption that covered upper British Columbia in the early days. It connects us to distant places. The volcano woman symbolizes strength, survival, drastic change, environmental force and respect for nature as well as the appreciation for the knowledge of elders.
